Opera 9.5 Beta Released!

Opera 9.5 beta is available for download! Since the first alpha release hundreds of bugs have been fixed. Website rendering has been significantly improved, along with performance, stability and usability.

Some of the new features include:

Opera link - which let’s you synchronize many features of Opera
History Search - which gives you the ability to search terms (such as website titles, headlines) if you  forget the website URL.
And much more.

If you never tried Opera, give it a try. It’s one of the best browsers around.

Why Is Internet Explorer’s Font Rendering So Much Better Than Firefox and Opera?

Did you ever notice that Internet Explorer displays font’s so much better than any other web browser, such as Firefox or Opera? Open up an IE tab and another browser’s tab and compare. Can you see the difference?

Here are screen shots of the results from the front page of Yahoo News.

Internet Explorer:

Opera & Firefox:

Firefox font

Notice the difference? Internet Explorer’s is much more smooth and looks a lot better. However, it is very easy to get this style on all of Windows, not just Internet Explorer.

Early Opera 9.5 and Alpha Firefox 3 Releases

Want to be one of the early adopters for opera or firefox? Both web browsers are currently in their testing stage until the new versions will be released.

Opera will have a weekly release, similar to how they released their testing stage for Opera 9. Every week on Friday they release a new version with updated bug fixes and enhanced features.

Firefox is currently in the eighth Alpha stage of Firefox 3, and will soon be moving into beta.

Of course, as with any alpha or beta program, make sure to read the known bugs before making anything your default program.

Opera’s Built-In Features vs. Firefox’s Equivalent Extensions

It’s always nice to be able to try numerous different programs that have a similar function, and see which one is the most suitable for you. Opera and Firefox are the perfect example.

It is widely known that Opera is amazing for its out-of-the-box capability: right after the installation, you have a wide variety of tools inside of Opera. On the other hand, Firefox is known to be great for its extensions: people can easily download an addon that is suitable for them (and there is a very long list of addons for Firefox) and use it.

Sometimes, people want to switch from Firefox to Opera, or vice versa to test out some of the features the other has to offer. This list shows some of the most used features that come with Opera, and the extensions for Firefox that offer similar job:
